Exterior LightingA ProMetric™ CCD Imaging photometer instantaneously measures the spatial illuminance (in lux) and colour distribution from vehicle headlamps as projected onto a screen. The ProMetric camera can be used to determine both the variation of illuminance (lux) with position or the variation of luminous intensity (candelas) with angle. Radiant Imaging has developed a bolt-on Headlamp Test application for its ProMetric software to further simply the testing of headlamp beam patterns.
For ECE and / or SAE type-approval testing of vehicle lighting, the automated goniophotometer systems made by Berlin-based X-Rite / Optronik GmbH represent the state of the art.

Instrument PanelsThe brightness (more correctly, luminance) and colour of a vehicle instrument panel are frequently measured using a "spot" luminance meter. A luminance meter is equipped with a particular lens that allows you to target a specific area (or spot) on the display for brightness and colour measurements. Very often, it is desirable if the brightness and colour uniformity of the whole display are measured in one go. For spatial brightness and colour uniformity measurements, a ProMetric™ CCD Imaging photometer can be used. For the highest colorimetric accuracy and low light sensitivity, a spectroradiometer can record the spectral radiance from a spot on a display, from which luminance and colour are calculated.
