6080 White Reflectance Coating
|
A Diffuse White Reflectance Paint Descended from Kodak 6080 & Munsell CoatingsLabsphere 6080 white reflectance coating is a pre-packaged paint that exhibits extremely diffuse, high reflectance. It is applied by spray painting to almost any substrate (metals, plastics, glass) for use in integrating spheres, laser cavities, lamp reflectors and display backlights. It is characterised by a near-perfect Lambertian (i.e. diffuse) reflectance of up to 98% in the spectral range from 250-2500nm. 6080 coating is a barium sulphate-based formulation similar to Labsphere's Spectraflect and Duraflect coatings. Whereas Spectraflect and Duraflect are offered as coating services only, 6080 is sold as a paint for the customer to apply to their reflector. 6080 can also be used to "touch up" Spectraflect integrating spheres if required. 6080 coating is supplied as standard as an ethanol solution, ready mixed for customer use. Due to restrictions imposed by freight forwarders on the transportation of flammible materials, we also offer 6080 as a coating "pre-mix". This is a more economical alternative and the premix formulation need simply be mixed with the appropriate volume of spectroscopic grade (200 proof) ethanol prior to painting. For details, consult the application instructions which you can download from the Knowledge Base box to the right. Labsphere 6080 white reflectance coating is stocked in 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 litre bottles. The premix formulation is available in the same volumes which require mixing with an approximately equal volume of ethanol. At the optimum coating thickness of 0.5 to 0.6mm, 1 litre of 6080 paint (or of the premix + ethanol solution) will cover an area of apprixmately 2,500cm2. The coating is best applied using an airless spray gun or (for small area use) by an airbrush. The high, diffuse reflectance provided by 6080 cannot be generally achieved by applying the paint by brush, except for small area repairs to integrating spheres. Pro-Lite generally holds stock of 6080 premix available for next working day delivery in the mainland UK. Ordering Information
