The Imaging Sphere™
|
Innovative Goniometer for Fast Angular Analysis of Light Sources, Displays and BRDF Scatter of MaterialsThe patented Imaging Sphere™ from Radiant Imaging is the fastest angular light measurement instrument available today. Capture the full 2π hemispherical angular luminous intensity and colour variation of small light sources in seconds. For displays, the Imaging Sphere rapidly measures view angle as well as luminance and colour variation with direction of view. The Imaging Sphere also functions as a high speed BRDF scatterometer, characterising the reflectance and transmittance properties of material in a fraction of the time and cost of traditional goniometers. The Three Imaging Sphere ConfigurationsThe Imaging Sphere is configured in three versions. The IS-LI measures the far field angular luminous intensity versus angle from LEDs and other small light source. The IS-VA measures the near field luminance versus angle from flat panel displays. The IS-SA is a reflectance scatterometer with variable angle illumination, providing measurements of the BRDF (bidirectional reflective distribution function) from materials. The IS-SA can be equipped with an optional transmittance arm extension for the measurement of transmissive scatter, BTDF. The measurement capabilities of the three versions is summarised below.
» Learn more about the IS-LI (Luminous Intensity) But How Does it Work?Goniophotometers and scatterometers have traditionally been very slow and extremely expensive. When learning of an instrument which can characterise the full hemispherical luminous intensity distribution from an LED in a few seconds, the reaction of most people is mild scepticism, unsurprisingly. However, the Imaging Sphere, is a disarmingly simple device, as you'll learn in our technical briefing. » Go to Imaging Sphere™ Technical Briefing
