Application Overview: LEDs & OLEDs

This page provides an overview of the products and services which Pro-Lite offers for those working with LEDs and OLEDs. The measurement equipment is listed by measurement parameter. In addition to test & measurement equipment, we provide software design tools, measurement services and a training course aimed at those new to the field of light measurements, photometry and colorimetry.
Don't forget to visit our Knowledge Base; this contains a library of technical guides, applications notes, papers and articles relating to LED measurements as well as radiometry, photometry and colorimetry in general. In our Case Studies area, you'll find several LED measurement applications reviewed.

Angular IntensityThe Labsphere LSA-3000 is a motorised and fully self-contained goniophotometer with an on-board photodetector for relative intensity versus angle measurements with individual LEDs. Can be used in conjunction with the I-1000/2000 intensity head and either CDS-500/510 or CDS-1100/2100 CCD spectrometers for absolute luminous intensity and colour as a function of angle. Works under LightMtrX software. The Imaging Sphere™ IS-LI™ from Radiant Imaging measures the full 2π hemispherical luminous intensity and colour variation from individual LEDs and small clusters in a couple of seconds.

Angular LuminanceLuminance is the measurement we make of an extended area light source (e.g. LED display) in the near field; conversely, intensity is a far-field measurement of a point light source (e.g. individual LED). By combining a ProMetric™ CCD imaging photometer with a motorised goniometer stage, PM-FPMS™ performs measurements of luminance and colour versus angle for all points on a display at a time. For instantaneous measurements of luminance and colour versus angle for one point on the display at a time, we offer the Imaging Sphere™ IS-VA™. Finally, the SIG-300 is a near-field source imaging goniophotometer that is used for generating Radiant Source Model files.

Forward Spectral FluxIntegrating sphere spectroradiometer designed specifically for quick and easy measurements of forward flux from individual LEDs. Reports spectral radiant flux (Watts per nm), luminous flux (lumens), chromaticity, dominant wavelength and colour rendering.

LuminanceThe brightness (more correctly, luminance) and colour of an LED display is often measured using a "spot" luminance meter. From Konica Minolta we offer the LS-100/110 portable spot luminance meter, while the CS-100A and CS-200 double as a tristimulus colorimeters to record the colour (chromaticity, x y or u' v') and colour temperature of the light source.

Spatial Luminance & IlluminanceA ProMetric™ CCD Imaging photometer measures the spatial luminance, illuminance or colour distribution from flat panel displays, LEDs, automotive instrument clusters, traffic signals and signs, interior lighting and automotive headlamps. Bolt-on, application-specific software further simplifies the measurement of LED clusters and arrays and OLEDs devices. For LED-based displays, full colour, LED pixel by pixel screen balancing is available.

Spectral FluxVersatile, interior access integrating sphere spectroradiometers for total flux measurements with all sizes and powers of light sources. Reports spectral radiant flux (Watts per nm), luminous flux (lumens), chromaticity, colour temperature, dominant wavelength and colour rendering. Choose from two grades of CCD spectrometer: Starter systems use the CDS-500/510; Choice systems use the CDS-1100/2100 for improved sensitivity. All systems use LightMtrX application software and an LMS series light measurement integrating sphere.

Spectral IntensityMeasure the near field, axial, averaged spectral radiant intensity (Watts per steradian per nm) from individual LEDs in accordance with CIE publication no. 127 condition A (316mm) and B (100mm). Also reports luminous intensity (candelas), chromaticity, colour temperature, dominant wavelength and colour rendering. Choose from two grades of CCD spectrometer: Starter systems use the CDS-500/510; Choice systems use the CDS-1100/2100 for improved sensitivity. All systems use LightMtrX application software.

Spectral IrradianceMeasurements of spectral irradiance are correctly measured using a cosine-corrected receiver, an ideal achieved using an integrating sphere. Reports spectral irradiance (Watts per sq. meter per nm), illuminance (lux), chromaticity, colour temperature, dominant wavelength and colour rendering. Choose from two grades of CCD spectrometer: Starter systems use the CDS-500/510; Choice systems use the CDS-1100/2100 for improved sensitivity. All systems use LightMtrX application software. |
