Spatial Luminance, Illuminance, Luminous Intensity and Colour Analysis
Radiant Imaging ProMetric™ imaging photometers are powerful, CCD-based light and colour measurement instruments that provide for vastly increased productivity compared with traditional “spot” photometers. Whereas a spot photometer can only measure the brightness and colour of one point on a display or light source at a time, a CCD-based ProMetric™ photometer can measure millions of points simultaneously. Moreover, because the ProMetric™ camera views the whole light source at once, localised luminance and colour differences can be easily detected – artefacts that simple spot meters would probably miss.
The ProMetric Camera Family
The ProMetric™ family comprises camera models with pixel resolutions from 512 x 512 to 3072 x 2048:
► PM-1000-0, 10-bit, uncooled, interline CCD, photopic
► PM-1000-1, 10-bit, uncooled, interline CCD, RGB
► PM-1200-1, 12-bit, uncooled, interline CCD, tristimulus
► PM-1400F-0, 14-bit, TE-cooled, full frame CCD, photopic
► PM-1400F-1, 14-bit, TE-cooled, full frame CCD, tristimulus
► PM-1600F-0, 16-bit, TE-cooled, full frame CCD, photopic
► PM-1600F-1, 16-bit, TE-cooled, full frame CCD, tristimulus
The PM-1200-1 camera is available with an internal, motorised filter wheel (version PM-1200N-1) that is fitted with ND0, ND1 and ND2 filters to provide for a wider dynamic range. This allows the camera to measure, for example, an LCD display as well as the display backlight without the need for external filters. The ND filter wheel is fitted as standard to the PM-1400F and PM-1600F models.
The PM-1200, PM-1400F-1 and PM-1600F-1 colour cameras are equiped with a second internal, motorised filter wheel which is fitted as standard with three RGB filters precision matched to the CIE tristimulus XYZ observer functions. For applications with narrow band light sources and in particular white and blue LEDs, a fourth "XB" filter is available which matches the secondary response in the blue of the CIE X tristimulus observer which greatly increases the colorimetric accuracy of the ProMetric™ camera.

ProMetric™ Software
Each ProMetric™ imaging photometer comes with a powerful, Windows-based software suite created by Radiant Imaging. This software provides extensive instrument control, data acquisition and image analysis capabilities. The software provides a simple, user-friendly interface to fully automated, pre-programmed capabilities. This enables production line personnel and other operatives to perform sophisticated measurements and tests. However, built-in support for .Net and ActiveX controls allows the experienced user infinite scope to develop customised applications, and to perform automated testing using software such as VB.Net, VC#.Net, LabView, Matlab, VBA, and C++.
