Application Overview: Signs

This page provides an overview of the products and services which Pro-Lite offers for those wishing to test architectural, road and airfield signs. The measurement equipment is listed by measurement parameter.

In addition to test & measurement equipment, we provide measurement services.

ProMetric Camera for Testing Signs

Luminance

The brightness (more correctly, luminance) and colour of a sign are often measured using a "spot" luminance meter. From Konica Minolta we offer the LS-100/110 portable spot luminance meter, while the CS-100A and CS-200 double as a tristimulus colorimeters to record the colour (chromaticity, x y or u' v') and colour temperature of the light source.

  • Konica Minolta CS-100A luminance colorimeter
  • Konica Minolta CS-200 luminance colorimeter

A ProMetric™ CCD Imaging photometer can be used for fast brightness and colour uniformity measurements. Compared to a traditional spot photometer, a ProMetric camera records the luminance at literally millions of points on the display, and can be programmed to automatically reveal pixel, column and other defects that traditional methods would probably miss.

ProMetric Goniophotometer

Luminous Intensity & View Angle

Testing of architectural signage, such as exit signs, typically requires accurate assessment of intensity as a function of angle in order to ensure compliance with UL, ISO or other relevant safety standards. By combining a ProMetric™ CCD imaging photometer with a motorised goniometer stage, PM-FPMS™ performs measurements of luminance, luminous intensity and colour versus angle for all points on the sign at a time.

Konica Minolta CS-2000 Spectroradiometer

Spectral Radiance

For the highest colorimetric accuracy spot luminance measurements, a spectroradiometer is the preferred instrument. The CS-2000 from Konica Minolta is the very latest, state-of-the-art spectroradiometer designed specifically for high accuracy luminance and colour measurements.
